About me
Lukas Roth was born in Cologne in 2000 and grew up in the greater Cologne area. He started taking drum lessons at the age of six and went on to play in various bands and big bands over the following years. Classical piano lessons followed at the age of ten, before he later devoted himself — largely self-taught — to pop piano. At the same time, as a teenager he was active as a bandleader and arranger for various combo formations, gaining experience in planning, rehearsing and performing concerts and shows. Eventually he began taking jazz piano lessons and deepening his knowledge of jazz harmony. Since 2022 he has been studying jazz piano and pop keyboards at the Cologne University of Music and Dance (Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln) with Jürgen Friedrich and Jan Klinkenberg. Alongside his studies, he performs as a keyboardist and pianist in a wide range of line-ups — mainly pop, funk and jazz — in the greater Cologne area and beyond.
As a freelance musician, arranger and musical director, he has realized numerous concerts and written for most common ensembles — from band, horn combo and choir to symphony orchestra — as well as directed bands and choirs.
